Ginger Mint Tea
Well the holidays are officially here along with the cold weather. Thanksgiving is now behind us and Christmas it quickly approaching along with a lot more eating. If you were anything like me this weekend, you might have slightly abused your body with a little too much eating and drinking. So it's a perfect time to bust out my favorite soul-warming, belly-soothing ginger mint tea. As we know, ginger is good for digestion and mint is great for calming the tummy, so this is just what my body ordered to start a new week back on track. The cranberries are optional, but they definitely add a little festive feel to my cup.
So here's what you need for a yummy cup for yourself and a special friend:
- Water
- Fresh Ginger Root
- Bunch of Mint
- Handful of Cranberries (optional)
- Honey
- 2 Cozy Mugs
To get started peel your ginger and slice about half a dozen thin 1/8 inch slices an put in a small pot with about 4 cups of water. If you choose to add the cranberries, slice about a dozen in half and put them in the pot along with the ginger (if you leave them whole, they pop). Put it on the stove a bring to a boil.
While your water is heatin' up, slice some more ginger and put 6 slices in each mug along with about a dozen plucked mint leaves. Drizzle a small amount of honey and muddle the mint, ginger and honey in each mug, no worries if you don't have a muddler just use a wooden spoon.
Once your water is boiling, strain the water into each of your mugs and enjoy!!!
