The Ladies Who Lunch-Breast Cancer Awareness Cocktail
I was asked by a co-worker a while back to make a pink cocktail for breast cancer awareness month. I was excited but also hesitant because that meant I had to come up with a pink cocktail; I'm not a huge fan of those super bright sugary drinks that give you a wicked hang-over after just one, so I knew this was going to be a challenge. I knew what I didn't want so I started to think about what I DID want this drink to be. I knew I wanted something that had a subtle sweetness but was strong and kicked some ass-just like every wonderful woman in my life :)
It wasn't until I was at lunch with some female colleagues of mine at work and we saw these fabulous women having lunch and enjoying some libations while they were at it. And before we knew it, we found ourselves in a #lifegoals conversation about wanting to be ladies who lunch when we grew up and thus the name of the cocktail was born.
But before I get to our cocktail recipe and raise a glass to all the amazing women out there, we have to make sure we're taking care of ourselves, after all that's the point of breast cancer awareness month, right? So let me take this opportunity to remind all of us that we need to make sure we're being proactive, doing regular self-breast exams and taking care of ourselves and fellow women out there.
Now lets toast to all the wonderful women in our lives: to health, happiness and just the right amount to drink ;)
