Prairie Bee
I tell Collin on one of our many stay in movie nights at home, I think I'd like a cocktail with gin, lavender, violette and... and egg white! Can you make it? This is what he whipped and even named it after me :) Boy is it awesome having your own personal-live-in mixologist!
If you're looking for a cocktail that is herbal and spirit forward, light and tart but complex, this is the ticket!
Also, if you've never had a cocktail with egg white, don't be turned off! This adds a nice froth and a creamy texture to any cocktail and is a very popular ingredient. Make sure you practice safe egg handling since you are using a raw egg; use fresh eggs that are refrigerated and give them a little wash!
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. dry gin
- 1/2 oz. St. Germain
- 1/2 oz. Creme de Violette
- 1/2 oz. lemon juice
- 1 pinch of dry culinary violet (you can find this at Whole Foods or Mariano's if you're in the Midwest)
- 1 egg white
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to a shaker and dry shake vigorously to emulsify the egg white so you get a thick froth on the top
- Add ice and shake again
- Strain into chilled glass and cheers!
